GBFFL Playoff match-ups set

August 7, 2008 - The GBFFL competitive playoff seeds are set and it looks like a three horse race for the championship. Any Given Sunday, the #1 seed, improved to 11-1, by defeating the Tigers 28-0 and American Glass Block 21-6 on Sunday. Their only loss of the season was at the hands of The Dynasty, in week #5, by a score of 19-12. W.H. Greene and Associates, the #2 seed, ran their record to 10-2 by steamrolling the Buffalo Soldiers by a score of 38-6 and receiving a forfeit 26-0 win over Alumni's. Their two losses were to Any Given Sunday (20-12) in week #1 and Zoombang (27-25) in week #3. The Dynasty, the #3 seed, also ran their record to 10-2 by defeating The Pussycats by a score of 38-7 and Buffalo Soldiers by 34-8. Their two losses were a 9-0 forfeit loss to ACDC in week #4 and a 16-14 defeat at the hands of Zoombang in week #5. 7th seeded Zoombang is the darkhoarse of the competitive playoffs as they have defeated two of the top three seeds.

The recreational playoff seeds are also set with Alumni's #1 and ACDC #2. Alumni's ended the regular season at 4-8, but their record is deceiving as they have had difficulty fielding a team all season. When they show up they are as good as any competitive team and could run away with the recreational title. ACDC also finished the season with a 4-8 record but their head to head, 39-6 loss to Alumni's in week #1 moves them down to the #2 seed. ACDC has shown great improvement over the second half of the season and nearly pulled out a competitive playoff birth but they will have their hands full with the Buffalo Soldiers in the first round. The Buffalo Soldiers have shown great determination, week in and week out, never giving up and coming back strong win or lose.

The GBFFL has a bye on Sunday August 10, 2008 and will conclude its season on Sunday August 17, 2008 with a one day playoff. The Playoffs begin at 10:00, spectators are welcome and admission is free.
